Judge Maxine White Appointed Chief Judge for the First Judicial District

"On March 26, 2015, the Wisconsin Supreme Court unanimously voted and appointed Judge Maxine Aldridge White as Chief Judge for the First Judicial District. Judge White has presided as a Milwaukee Circuit Court judge for 23 years, and for the past 7 years she has served as Deputy Chief Judge for the District. She is working to conclude her current assignments as Deputy Chief Judge and Presiding Judge of the Family Division and will fully transition to her new role as Chief Judge on August 3, 2015.


She earned her J.D. from Marquette Law School, where she received numerous scholarships and honors, including Law Review and the Am Jur Book Award in Constitutional Law; a Masters degree with honors in Public Administration from the University of Southern California and her B.A. Degree magna cum laude from Alcorn State University.

Judge White served as president of WAAL from 2008 to 2009 and was a member of the WAAL Board of Directors in 2010 where she served for a number of years, including as Chair of WAAL's CLE Committee. On June 19, 2014 WAAL named and presented its Judge Maxine Aldridge White Book Award to a law student."
