WAAL Congratulates Cedric S. Cornwall Announces his Intention to Run for Circuit Court Branch 32

Milwaukee, WI[APRIL 2013] - WAAL member and past member of the WAAL Board of Directors, Cedric Cornwall, announced his intention to run for Milwaukee County Circuit Court Branch 32 upon the retirement of Judge Michael D. Guolee from the bench at the end of his term in 2014. He is running for this seat because he wants to continue his public service commitment to the people of Milwaukee County. Cedric has broad support and the encouragement of judges, court commissioners, private bar attorneys, assistant district attorneys, public defenders, elected officials, community leaders and local law enforcement.

Since graduating from Marquette University Law School in 1986, Cedric has demonstrated a commitment to public service, for the past 7 years as a judicial court commissioner in Milwaukee County, and previously as a manager with the City of Milwaukee Equal Rights Commission and an assistant state public defender. In addition, he ran a successful law practice as a partner in a small Milwaukee law firm.

Cedric is very familiar with the court system in Milwaukee County, given his 27 years of legal experience. As a judicial court commissioner, he has presided over thousands of courtroom proceedings, including small claims, preliminary hearings, children’s court matters, traffic cases, and bail hearings. He has strived to provide a high level of respect and professionalism to the litigants, attorneys, victims, and defendants who have appeared before him. Cedric's extensive knowledge of the justice system, combined with a strong work ethic and demonstrated commitment to our community, makes him an excellent candidate for circuit court judge.

He has a strong track record of community involvement for the past several decades, serving on various boards and volunteering his time with area organizations committed to improving conditions in Milwaukee.

His dedication and commitment to the improvement of our community and the legal system will positively contribute to the administration of justice in the circuit courts of Milwaukee County. In the coming months, Cedric will be actively meeting people out in the community.

Cedric S. Cornwall has lived in Milwaukee County for 30 years. He is married and has two daughters.

He is a member of various professional organizations, including the Office of Lawyer Regulation District II Committee, Wisconsin Association of Judicial Court Commissioners, Milwaukee Bar Association, and the Wisconsin Association of African-American Lawyers. He is active in his community and serves on various boards, including the Marquette University Law School Alumni Association, Wisconsin Professional Society on the Abuse of Children, and Word of Hope Ministries, Inc.
